A SYDNEY man has fronted court charged with supplying methylamphetamine in Wagga Wagga after police raided his property.
Stephen Paul Vandenbovenkamp, 49, appeared at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday via AVL charged with a string of charges including supplying an indictable quantity of prohibited drugs and firearms offences.
His arrest followed investigations from specialist police squad, Strike a Force Clementis, which had been created to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine in the Wagga Wagga region.
Investigators had executed a search warrant on Vandenbovenkamp’s Toongabbie property on January 22 where police allegedly seized a shortened firearm, a black-coloured ‘cold’ brand handgun, drug-related items and cash.
His lawyer Wayne Condon said there was no application for bail and requested for the matter to be referred to the DPP.
Magistrate Robyn Denes asked Vandenbovenkamp if he understood and was not making an application for bail.
“I understand,” Vandenbovenkamp said.
Magistrate Denes: “In that case the matter has been adjourned to February 6 and the matter has been referred to the DPP.”
