Mount Austin: Wagga man third person to be charged following alleged kidnapping

A 56-year-old man is the third person to be arrested after a man was allegedly detained, threatend with a knife before being bundled into a car and robbed after arranging to meet a woman on social media.

A man is accused of being involved in the alleged knifepoint kidnapping of a 29-year-old man after he was allegedly robbed and forced into a car and taken to a second home.

Police will allege the 29-year-old arranged to meet a woman on social media before going to a home on Hunter Street, Mount Austin, on Friday, July 21.

The man was allegedly kept in the home for seven hours and forced to pay for petrol before he managed to escape on foot and fled to a nearby service station.

Riverina Police were alerted a short time later and started investigating.

So far during the investigation, an 18-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were arrested and charged and remain before the courts.

The 56-year-old man was arrested at around 10.45am on Fitzhardinge Street, Wagga on Tuesday.

He was taken to Wagga Police Station and charged with detain person with intent to obtain advantage and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical, etc harm.

He was granted strict conditional bail and will appear at Wagga Local Court on December 9.
