Edward Pout, 20, pleads guilty to sexual assaults against woman after breaking into home
A young man has admitted to forcing his way into a woman’s unit, where he asked for sugar before raping her while her eight-month-old daughter lay screaming nearby.

A man has admitted to forcing his way into a woman’s unit before sexually assaulting her numerous times in a terrifying ordeal while her baby was left distressed and screaming.
Edward Pout, 20, pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault. Two of which were aggravated by breaking into a unit and the other aggravated by inflicting actual bodily harm on the victim.
He also pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated break and enter and commit assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Pout, who appeared via video link in Wagga Local Court on Wednesday, had the charge of choking and another count of aggravated sexual assault withdrawn.
Court documents state on August 17, 2018 at a central Wagga unit, the victim was hanging her laundry outside when Pout tried to talk to her.
When she finished, she went inside to nurse her eight-month-old child.
Not long after, Pout, who works at a Wagga abattoir at the time of the offences, knocked on her front door on two occasions to ask for coffee and sugar.
One the second occasion, the victim gave him sugar then tried to close the door, but Pout pushed it onto her while she was holding her child, grazing the baby’s temple.
He then closed the door before grabbing the victim by the neck and covered her mouth.
She found it hard to breathe and thought she would die, court documents state.
He told her, “If you don’t do what I want, I will kill you and your baby,” before dragging her to a sofa where he raped her and forced her to perform oral sex on him.
The child was left screaming and he said words to the effect of “swear you will not tell the cops or I will kill your husband and your baby”.
The victim told him she swore she would not tell anyone before Pout left.
Ater the ordeal, the victim drove to her husband’s work before they called the police who attended the crime scene while she went to hospital.
Pout was then arrested and clothing consistent with that described by the victim was found during the execution of a search warrant at his house.
The victim also identified Pout from photos and DNA analysis from the crime scene matched him.
In court on Wednesday, Magistrate Christopher Halburd committed him for sentence in Wagga District Court on July 17.
One count of threatening injury with intent to influence a witness will be taken into account in the sentencing procedure.
