A Currarong woman charged with the murder of beloved Nowra teen Taj Hart will remain in custody after her legal team did not apply for her release at the Nowra Local Court.
Katie Walmsley, 37, and Jayden Walmsey-Hume, 18, were arrested on Sydney’s northern beaches in April after 18-year-old Hart was killed in a hit and run on Old Southern Rd, Nowra in February.
Walmsley was refused bail by the Manly Local Court that month.
Appearing via email at the Nowra Local Court on June 7, the pair’s legal representatives, Sydney-based Murphy’s Lawyers, did not apply to have Walmsley released.
Walmsley and Walmsley-Hume are “known to each other”, according to police, and reside at the same Currarong address according to police documents.
The pair will return to the South Coast court on August 2.
The arrest came after a months-long investigation by officers from Strike Force Altos, a joint operation between the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and investigators from the South Coast Police District set up to investigate Mr Hart’s death.
In March, officers identified and seized a white Mitsubishi Triton utility alleged to have been involved in the incident, which was seized from a Currarong address.
