Shane Barker: Nowra man faces fresh charges after alleged tub incident
A South Coast has been hit with fresh charges after he allegedly tried to down a woman and choke her in a bathtub earlier this year.

A South Coast man who allegedly attempted to drown a woman in a bathtub has been hit with fresh charges.
Police allege Shane Noel Barker, 38, assaulted, choked and attempted to drown a woman that was known to him between 6am and 8am on January 24, 2020, at a Nowra address.
Then on February 27, police allege Barker tried to influence the victim into not making contact with police causing the witness to withhold evidence.
The fresh charges including common assault (domestic violence related), two counts of intentionally choke person without consent, attempt to drown person with intent to murder (domestic violence related), and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (domestic violence related), stalk or intimidate intending to cause fear of physical or mental harm, act with intent to influence to procure conviction or acquitted serious indictable offence and knowingly contravene a prohibition specified in an AVO.
Barker was already facing the existing charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (domestic violence related), common assault (domestic violence related) and contravene a prohibition specified in an order.
The Office of Director of Public Prosecutions withdraw a charge of attempted murder.
Barker is yet to enter any pleas to the charges and remains in custody. All charges were adjourned to August 18.
