A woman who viciously attacked multiple Domino’s workers on the state’s south in an “incredible display of violence” has avoided jail time.

Rhonda Bell, who is currently residing in Mogo as part of her bail conditions, learned her fate in court after she stormed Batemans Bay Domino’s on May 8, attacking multiple workers.

The 23-year-old was sentenced on charges of affray and common assault in Moruya Local Court on Friday, following previous pleas of guilty.

Although Bell was appearing in Moruya Local Court for sentencing on the attack, the court heard she had recently been slapped with an unrelated charge of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception. Pleas are yet to be entered for the latest charge which was adjourned to August 11 to allow Bell to receive legal advice.

During her sentencing on Friday, Magistrate Doug Dick read through the agreed facts tendered to the court, which reveal the extent of the young woman’s actions.

The documents state Bell “ran” at one of the workers, punched them, uppercutted them and attacked other workers in her way.

They also state the “violent” attack was a result of Bell believing the workers had “said stuff about my pregnant sister”.

Bell’s lawyer Keely Boom said her client had been diagnosed with schizophrenia since the attack had taken place.

“She was experiencing significant stress at the time of the offence,” she said. “Her memory of what happened is quite poor. But, she does accept what she did was not acceptable and it was an incredible display of violence.”

Despite the diagnosis and mention of stress, Mr Dick said there was “no excuse” for the violent behaviour.

“I have to make it very clear that this kind of behaviour cannot be tolerated,” he said. “Part of my job is to denounce and condemn this kind of behaviour and that is exactly what I’m doing. You may have been having a tough day, but that is no excuse.”

Mr Dick proceeded to convict Bell and sentence her to a “strict” intensive correction order, which will last for 18 months.

Bell was also ruled to complete 200 hours of community service and told she needs to attend mental health services to treat her schizophrenia.

The woman will return to Moruya Local Court on August 11 for the unrelated charge.
