An Illawarra man has landed himself in court after being pulled over not once, but twice by South Coast police on the same morning, allegedly revealing a cache of cannabis, drug paraphernalia, and prescription medication.
Raymond Francis was stopped by officers from the Lake Illawarra Highway Patrol unit after he was allegedly seen driving a sedan above the speed limit and in a dangerous manner along Five Islands Rd in Cringila at about 11.40am on May 17.
That came only hours after police had already stopped the 28-year-old for the first time, with checks revealing he had been disqualified from driving since November, and was issued a Court Attendance Notice.
After the second stop, the Warrawong man was given a roadside breath tests which allegedly returned a positive result for methylamphetamine, the results from which will undergo analysis. His vehicle was also searched, leading to further charges.
In their search, police allege to have found cannabis, drug paraphernalia, and prescription medication.
After being arrested at the scene, Francis was taken to the Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with driving while disqualified, possessing a prohibited drug, possessing or attempting to prescribe a restricted substance, and possession of drug-related equipment.
He appeared in Wollongong Local Court on May 18 where he was refused bail to appear in the same court on May 31.
