Residents of a south coast town have shared their fear and panic on social media amidst a series of recent tyre slashings.
Police are currently investigating a series of tyre slashings which have been occurring in Nowra.
Resident Ian Williams said on February 28 alone tyre slashings occurred in the Nowra CBD, BP service station, Plunkett St, Kinghorne St and the hospital car park.
“If you see that person in the act, take a photo and give it to police,” he said.
“Don’t approach them.”
Reports indicate the slashings have been occurring in the town from at least late last year.
“The f---wits did it to my car in November,” Nowra local Mick Wilson said.
Residents have also been reporting recent slashings on social media.
“I just had to put new tyres on my car because they were slashed,” Helen Sharpe said.
“Cost me $958.”
Fear is ripe with residents online who are expressing their concern when simply parking their car in public.
“I was in the hospital car park for eight hours yesterday and thankfully no damage,” Kimberly Rollo said.
“I hope they catch them soon.”
According to a NSW police spokesman, the south coast police district are actively investigating the situation.
“Officers from South Coast Police District are investigating, following reports several tyres were slashed in Nowra between late Monday, February 27 and the early hours of Tuesday, February 28,” the spokesman said.
Police have asked anyone with information regarding the slashings to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
