“I’m going to f**k you up” and “I can do what I want”, were the abusive words of a tenant who aggressively told their real estate agency to fix their oven, before kicking the agency’s door and throwing mud at the front window.

The incident saw St Georges Basin woman, Natjinatji Ellis appear in Nowra Local Court on Tuesday, pleading guilty to stalk and intimidate.

Police documents tendered to the court reveal the 39-year-old woman, who had been a tenant with Oz Combined Realty in Sanctuary Point since March 2021, had called the agency ‘numerous’ times on April 5, requesting them to fix her oven.

However, in each call made, Ellis was aggressive and verbally abusive.

“Over the phone [Ellis] was aggressive and made threats to go to the realty and harm the workers,” agreed facts state.

Nine days after the abusive phone calls took place, Ellis visited the agency and was “immediately hostile” to the workers.

After yelling at the staff, continuing to demand they fix her oven, the “frightened” workers forced Ellis out of the building, before locking the door, the court heard.

This further angered the St George Basin woman, as she continued to scream, before beginning to physically attack the building.

“[Ellis] kicked the glass door numerous times however no damage was sustained,” agreed facts state.

“She continued to scream at the top of her lungs.”

As the workers began to call the police, Ellis picked up mud and smeared it on one of the worker’s cars, before picking up more mud and throwing it at the agency’s front window.

“After some more screaming, [Ellis] left the scene”, the facts state.

Hours later, police arrived at the agency and while discussing the incident with the workers, Ellis returned, pointed at the front window and said “I’m going to f**k you up”.

“Police asked her to leave and not come back, to which [Ellis] replied ‘I can do what I want’,” agreed facts state.

After telling her to leave multiple times and her continued refusal, officers arrested Ellis over the intimidation and took her to the Bay and Basin Police Station.

In court on Tuesday, Ellis’ lawyer, Hannah Dreher said her client suffered from mental health issues.

“These issues only made the incident worse,” she said.

Ms Dreher said her client planned to keep working on her mental health, before asking Magistrate Lisa Viney to consider Ellis’ minimal record and mental issues when sentencing.

However, Ms Viney said mental health was no excuse for Ellis’ behaviour.

“Your conduct on that day was terrifying for the workers,” she said.

“The victims are people simply trying to do their job and they certainly don’t need to be spoken to like that.”

Ellis was convicted, sentenced to a supervised 12-month community correction order and ordered to attend mental health support.
