Merimbula: Three men to face court, charged with committing act of cruelty on animal

Three men have been accused of animal cruelty, after they allegedly grabbed and assaulted a kangaroo on the state’s south coast.

Three men have been accused of animal cruelty, after they allegedly grabbed and assaulted a kangaroo on the state’s south coast.

Police allege on Saturday morning the men aged 18, 19 and 22, grabbed a kangaroo on Main St, Merimbula, before repeatedly assaulting it. The animal managed to flee the area.

A short time later, one of the three men then allegedly kicked the glass door of a laundromat on the same street.

Officers were notified of both incidents and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, police issued future court attendance notices, charging all three men with commit an act of cruelty upon an animal.

The younger man was also charged with destroy or damage property.

Each of the men will face Bega Local Court on September 12 for the offences.
