A woman accused of stabbing her partner during an alleged domestic violence incident on the NSW South Coast has fronted court for the first time after being released on bail.
Monique Simpson, 44, appeared in Nowra Local Court on Wednesday, charged with the domestic violence offence of reckless wounding.
The Berry woman is yet to enter pleas.
Court documents state the charge stems from an alleged incident in Berry – 20km north of Nowra – at about 7pm on April 12.
Emergency services were called to a Parker Cr home following reports of an alleged stabbing.
On arrival, South Coast Police District officers allegedly found a 49-year-old man suffering a stab wound.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.
NSW Police said a knife was later located at the scene and seized for forensic examination.
A crime scene was established and an investigation surrounding the circumstances of the alleged incident commenced.
One hour later, Simpson was arrested at the scene and taken to Nowra Police Station where she was charged and initially refused bail by police.
Simpson’s case was first heard in Parramatta Local Court the next day, where acting Magistrate Peter Robinson granted bail.
The 44-year-old then appeared in Nowra Local Court on Wednesday, represented by Zali Kelly, who asked Magistrate Lisa Viney for an adjournment.
“Discussions are still ongoing,” she said.
Ms Viney did not oppose, pushing Simpson’s case to April 30 in the same court.
