An Oak Flats man accused of attacking another man with a knife following an altercation at a house party on the Far South Coast last month will fight the charges.

Jamie Keegan, 24, pleaded not guilty to reckless wounding at the Moruya Local Court on June 16 but did not appear before Magistrate Doug Dick.

Emergency services were called to a property on Beachview Close, North Narooma at about 12.40am on May 20 following reports James Kyne, 31, had been stabbed.

Police allege an altercation broke out between Kynes and Keegan, who they believe are known to each other, during a party hosted at the residence.

Kynes was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for stab wounds sustained to his buttocks and upper leg, before being taken to Narooma Hospital.

Just before 8am that morning, officers from the South Coast Police District arrested Keegan after he returned to the property.

Keegan’s solicitor, Steven Marcel from the Australian Criminal Law Group, advised the court of the plea but did not attend.

Keegan will remain on bail and will reappear before Narooma Local Court on July 14.
