Child killed by lawnmower in South Pambula, investigation launched

An investigation has been sparked after a three-year-old boy was severely injured in a freak lawnmower accident involving his dad, later dying at a south coast hospital.

A boy has died in a freak accident after he was struck by a lawnmower in South Pambula.

An investigation was launched by police after the three-year-old boy was taken to Pambula District Hospital on March 11 with severe injuries.

The child later died despite efforts to save his life.

Police received reports the boy was struck by the back end of a ride-on lawnmower driven by his dad at a property in South Pambula near Bega.

Crimes scenes were established by officers at the hospital and at the south coast property.

Investigations are ongoing and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
