Emergency services have rushed a man and child to hospital after they almost drowned following a boat accident at Potato Point.

NSW Ambulance paramedics and the Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter crews responded to the incident near Beachcomber Holiday Park on Wednesday about 8.50am.

The man was flown to Canberra Hospital in a serious but stable condition and the boy was taken to Moruya Hospital in a stable condition.

NSW Ambulance Inspector Steven Owen said the man in his 30s and a young boy swallowed a large amount of sea water.

Paramedics treated the man for cuts to his legs, hypothermia and administered oxygen, while the boy was assessed at the scene and also given oxygen.

“This was very nearly a tragic incident and a reminder for anyone out on the water to wear a life jacket and carry an emergency beacon,’’ Insp Owen said.
