Raids on two Lake Macquarie homes uncover haul of weapons, firearms and drugs; Wyee man charged

Police raids at two Lake Macquarie homes have uncovered a haul of prohibited firearms and weapons, drugs as well as a NSW Police badge.
Wayne Anthony McAlister, 55, from the Central Coast was charged with nine offences including possess prohibited weapon, supply prohibited drug, unauthorised handle explosives, possess ammunition without permit and breach weapons prohibited order.
About 7am Thursday, officers searched a home on Newport Rd, Cooranbong and seized a pistol, ammunition and methylamphetamine.
They came back later in the day with another search warrant and again seized a vehicle, a motorbike, NSW police insignia, knuckle dusters, a baton and homemade weapons.
The second raid was at a home on Bushells Ridge Rd, Wyee that same day, where police also seized prohibited weapons, ammunition, drug paraphernalia and vehicles believed to be stolen.
The 55-year-old fronted Toronto Local Court on Thursday but was refused bail to re-appear at the same court on February 4.
Further charges are expected to be laid.
