A day of drinking at the races quickly got violent when a woman lashed out after losing her handbag and phone.
Danielle Ghirxi, 32, was in the outdoor area of the members lounge at the Newcastle Jockey Club on September 21 when she starting running towards another female patron screaming and waving her arms above her head.
“I’ll f**king kill you, you f**king piece of shit,” Ms Ghirxi yelled according to police facts.
Security had to restrain her from attacking other patrons before police arrived and tried to defuse the situation.
But with bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and unsteady on her feet, the tirade of abuse continued.
“You f**king dog c**ts. You aren’t f**king helping. That c**t stole my stuff,” Ms Ghirxi screamed.
Ghirxi then started maliciously knocking over chairs and again screaming abuse at everyone around her.
As police tried to escort her out of the venue, she threw a high heel at someone before assaulting one of the police officers, kicking the senior constable to the pelvis in a front kick motion.
Ghirxi pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer, resist arrest and using offensive language in a public place.
In Newcastle Local Court on Thursday, Ms Ghirxi’s solicitor Harrison Foulcher said his client had consumed a fair bit of alcohol that day and had blacked out, unable to recall the events.
“Her behaviour was obnoxious,” Mr Foulcher told the court.
“But she has cleaned up her act. She is disgusted in her behaviour and can’t believe she did this.
“She says something might have been given to her, hence the behaviour.”
Magistrate Robert Stone said at the end of the day it was a serious offence, assaulting a police officer.
“If they want to lash out at a police officer, they should expect some sort of punishment,” Magistrate Stone said.
“They’re just doing a job. They don’t expect to be kicked in the groin.”
Ghirxi will be sentenced in March.
