The final parcel of the Hunter’s former rail corridor is on the market

The site, renamed Rail Bridge Row, is located adjacent to the Crown St light rail stop on Hunter St, presenting a rare investment opportunity in Newcastle’s CBD.

An undeveloped parcel of land, the site will not only create new space to live, work, eat and play, the addition of homes, jobs and activity, it will create a catalyst for the ongoing revitalisation of Hunter St.

Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation Acting Chief Executive Valentina Misevska said it’s zoned mixed use which allows for retail, hospitality and or commercial space, but they’d like to see something that complements the are.

“Ideally, we’d like to see something innovative and thoughtful that not only incorporates these uses, but complements surrounding buildings, creates activity and provides vibrant street frontage along its 155 metres of Hunter St,” Ms Misevska said.

“Newcastle is an attractive place to live and do business, and Rail Bridge Row will provide more opportunity to live and work in the CBD.

This will have a flow-on effect with the city’s ongoing urban renewal, with more jobs and residents creating activity and supporting local entertainment and retail.

“The land is well-connected, with recently re-opened pedestrian links at the nearby Museum Park making it easy to get to the waterfront, university, museum, green public domain and the Honeysuckle precinct.”

It’s just one of many new projects being delivered across the CBD.
