Newcastle West: Parry, Hall street apartment tower development proposal
Newcastle continues to grow, with another high-rise apartment block on the cards. A development application has been lodged with Council for the $12.8 million proposal.

Another new multimillion-dollar, high-density apartment complex has been proposed for Newcastle West.
Applicant Parry & Hall projects lodged a development application with Newcastle City Council this month to demolish the existing site at 120 Parry St and 16 Hall St and build two eight-storey towers.
The proposal will provide 30 residential units with a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom units, as well as a rooftop terrace.
54 on site car spaces within an underground car stacker will also be provided.
It’s estimated cost is more than $12.8 million.
Currently commercial premises Churchills Carpet Court, the proposed redevelopment will look to increase housing options in a prime Newcastle location.
It’s within walking distance to the Marketown Shopping Centre, Newcastle’s No. 1 Sports Ground, Darby Street restaurant precinct, and Honeysuckle precinct.
The location is also close to inner city recreation, shops and services which includes public transport such as the light rail.
“The central location of the site and the nature of the proposal will place people in the city centre day and night; contributing to the overall revitalisation of the Newcastle City Centre,” the environmental report said.
Neighbouring buildings have already recently been developed for high-rise mixed use, with a recent development approval on Hall St for an eight storey mixed development with 33 residential units.
The current development application will go on notification later this month and will need to get the tick of approval from Newcastle City Council before it goes ahead.
Council will need to make variations on the site, with the proposed development at a maximum building height of 29 metres, which currently exceeds the maximum height allowed of 24 metres.
