Months before Brett Hill raped an 11-year-old girl he was hunting for woman on social media

Months before rapist Brett David Hill savagely kidnapped and sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl at Adamstown Heights, he was trawling dating sites on social media.
Last week the 48-year-old pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated sexual assault at Newcastle District Court, charges he had previously denied.
The late guilty plea came after Hill already admitted to abducting the Newcastle schoolgirl on her way to school through Hudson Park on June 12, 2018, and sexually assaulting her repeatedly in nearby bushland, during a five-hour ordeal.
It’s been revealed Hill was a member of the Newcastle and Hunter Valley single’s Facebook page, where it’s believed he interacted with a number of members in his desperate attempts to find a woman.
Four months prior to the heinous attack, he was seen chatting up a woman who said she had been single for a long time and was looking to meet people for potential relationships.
In Facebook posts obtained by The Newcastle News, dated February, 16 2018, Hill asked the woman if he could join her girlies night.
He asked, “why u single?”
She replied, “Busy with kids and work and life up til now. And choice.”
“Yep my kids are bigger, brighter and know it all now lol,” Hill replied.
He asked the woman where she lived and pointed out they had mutual friends before saying goodnight.
“Bed time now. Lol work before I know it,” he said.
The administrator of the Facebook page said it looked like Hill had deleted his profile from the group.
He believed the 48-year-old had been a member of various different groups on Facebook.
In September Hill was granted a judge-alone trial due to the potential for prejudicial publicity because of significant interest by local media.
He was expected to face trial last week, but the Crown prosecutor and his defence barrister engaged in discussions before he made late guilty pleas to three charges. The Crown also withdrew four charges which included aggravated indecent assaults.
He will now be sentenced in Newcastle District Court on December 17.
Hill had previously pleaded guilty to charges, including aggravated sexual assault, detaining a person for advantage and possession of child abuse material.
