Bob’s Farm, Nelson Bay road: Disqualified rider, 19, allegedly clocked at 200 kilometres an hour

Police allege Highway Patrol detected a Yamaha R3 motorbike speeding at Bob’s Farm before the rider, 19, accelerated to 200 kilometres an hour before finally coming to a stop.

A disqualified rider, accused of dangerously accelerating to 200 kilometres an hour when police went to pull him over near Nelson Bay, has now been charged.

Highway Patrol Police allegedly detected a Yamaha R3 motorbike travelling at 160 kilometres an hour in an 80 zone on Nelson Bay Road at Bob’s Farm at about 10.40pm on Monday.

Police allege that when they went to pull the rider over, the bike increased its speed travelling up to 200 kilometres an hour before eventually stopping near Cromarty Lane.

A 19-year-old Medowie man was arrested and taken to Nelson Bay Police Station, where he was charged with drive whilst disqualified, driving in a manner dangerous and exceed speed by more than 45km/h.

He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court on November 30.
