An accused drug dealer, who was allegedly caught with more than 120 grams of “magic mushrooms”, appeared at Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday to make a bail variation to his current curfew.

Thomas Jenkinson, 19, has been charged with supplying a commercial quantity of prohibited drugs, possession of drugs and dealing with the proceeds of crime.

Police found it strange when they found the teenager sitting all alone in his Holden Cruze, parked on the side of Raymond Terrace Rd, at Nelsons Plains, in the dark, at about 10.25pm on May 1.

They stopped to talk to the 19-year-old before searching his vehicle and police allege they seized 126 grams of psilocybin, known as “magic mushrooms”, over three grams of cannabis, drug paraphernalia and cash.

Jenkinson’s lawyer Drew Hamilton sought a bail variation to delete an 8pm to 8am curfew imposed on his client, who was working and studying a tertiary degree full time.

But Magistrate Brett Shields did not make any changes to his bail before adjourning the matter - which is set to go to the Director of Public prosecutions - for charge certificate in December.
