A witness has recalled when she was told of the moment young mum Danielle Easey was attacked from behind and had her hands tied behind her back with a cable tie.

Natalie Beveridge told a jury friend Carol McHenry – who is charged with Ms Easey’s murder – had a conversation with her about being “scared of something” relating to co-accused Justin Dilosa.

She recalled that McHenry had told her about the clean up of items at her Narara home, namely a mattress stained with blood, and wasn’t sure if Dilosa had gone back to “clean the state of her house”.

Ms Beveridge also told the jury of a conversation with her friend about the night of the alleged attack, where McHenry had said she had heard arguing from her bedroom and when she went to investigate she saw Dilosa attack Ms Easey from behind with an object.

Dilosa and former partner McHenry are on trial in the NSW Supreme Court after they both pleaded not guilty to the horrific murder of Ms Easey more than three years ago.

It’s alleged Ms Easey was stabbed to death in a Narara home on August 17, 2019 before her body was wrapped in plastic and two weeks later dumped at Cockle Creek near Killingworth, west of Newcastle, where she was later found by a passing motorist.

In the alternate, McHenry has entered a plea of guilty to a charge of accessory after the fact, accepting she did assist Dilosa after he had killed Ms Easey, claiming she was scared to go to police of what he would do.

In giving evidence during the five week trial on Tuesday, Ms Beveridge was asked if some of the details she had recounted may have been seen in a media report, following the arrest of her friend.

But she told the jury it was what she had heard.

“I had not paid close attention to media, it was a recollection of what was said to me,” she replied.

“I don’t believe I read or heard of things to contaminate my memory.”

McHenry’s defence barrister Antony Evers also raised arguments between Easey and Dilosa prior to her death, which included threats of a home invasion.

Meanwhile Dilosa’s defence barrister Angus Webb raised comments about McHenry’s use of drugs.

“Was it apparent Caz was using drugs again?” he asked.

“Her personality was changing,” Ms Beveridge replied.

The trial continues.
