A man broke into his ex-partner’s home with a knife on Christmas morning before making off with a motorbike he gifted, only to be caught three days later in a bizarre jetski arrest in the middle of Lake Macquarie.

In Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday, Brandon Williams pleaded guilty to two counts of drug supply, aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, assault with intent to take vessel, hinder and resist police and contravene AVO.

Williams was in an “off and on” relationship with his 26-year-old partner for three years before she decided to leave him.

Police facts said it was not “isolated behaviour” for the 30-year-old, who was known to verbally, emotionally and financially abuse his partner throughout their relationship.

Court documents state that weeks before Christmas last year she had noticed Williams “falling back into old patterns” and when he travelled to Wagga Wagga where he was from, she told him he was not welcome back.

Police facts stated he would regularly call her a “putrid dirty whore” and threatened to post explicit images of her on Facebook and email to her work.

It escalated on Christmas Day when the 30-year-old broke into her Charlestown home while she was asleep armed with a silver throwing knife.

Police facts said at about 7am Williams stormed into her bedroom and woke her before he headed to the loungeroom, grabbed a motorbike he had gifted and wheeled it out of the house.

The woman called police following the incident.

But it wasn’t until three days later that police were able to locate Williams who was seen sitting in his vehicle at a carpark at Cam’s Wharf.

Court documents detailed how the 30-year-old threw his bag into the lake before he jumped in himself and swam over to a buoy.

He motioned for a jet ski rider to help him before pushing the man and his two children off and trying to make a getaway, according to police facts.

Police were not far behind and deployed capsicum spray to subdue him before escorting him back to shore.

Police facts said a search of his bag, which was retrieved from the lake, uncovered more than 285 grams of meth, 29 grams of cocaine and $1005 in cash.

Williams will head to the District Court next month for a sentence date to be set.
