Former Catholic brother Raymond Walker pleads not guilty to child sex offences
A former Catholic brother arrested on the mid-north-coast will go to trial regarding multiple child sex offences dating back nearly 50 years.

A former Catholic brother arrested on the mid-north-coast late last year regarding multiple child sex offences, dating back nearly 50 years, has pleaded not guilty to 13 charges.
Child abuse and sex crimes squad detectives arrested the 71-year-old Raymond Walker at Taree Police Station in November following an eight-month investigation.
Police said in a statement that detectives had “received information relating to multiple allegations of sexual abuse of young male students [at] schools and camps across Sydney by a former brother”.
Police will allege in court that Walker sexually abused six male students – then aged between 12 and 14 – while they were in his care as a brother and teacher between 1973 and 1985.
In Sydney’s Downing Centre last week Walker did not appear via video link but pleas of not guilty were entered to six counts of indecent assault on a male, four counts of sexual assault and act of indecency with a person under 16, sexual assault of a person under 16 and sexual assault – indecent assault of a person under 16 under authority.
Walker will go to trial in the District Court and a date has been set for October 9 2023.
