It was just a routine vehicle stop, but convicted drug dealer Wayne Geoffrey Harrington was caught at it again, when police uncovered he had meth and more than 20 kilograms of cocaine in his vehicle.

Well-known to police, the 58-year-old was pulled up by officers at Sandgate in May last year before he tested positive to drugs at a roadside test.

It then led police to search his vehicle in which officers found 3.68 kilograms of meth - more than six times the commercial amount - and 22.3 grams of cocaine.

Police facts said shortly after police raided his Fullerton Cove home where they also found more drugs including cocaine, meth testosterone, MDMA and cannabis.

$275,000 was also found buried in the backyard.

In Newcastle Local Court on Tuesday, Harrington appeared via video link and pleaded guilty to two drug supply charges and a charge of dealing with the proceeds of crime.

Another drug supply and two drug possession offences will be related charges when he is sentenced later this year.

In a bid for bail late last year, Harrington told a judge he had spent years in the grip of addiction, serving significant jail sentences for drug supply.

He was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment for large commercial drug supply, commercial drug supply and dealing with crime proceeds at Gosford Local Court in 2010.

Just three months after he was granted parole, having spent four years in prison, Harrington was convicted of three counts of drug supply and received another two-and-a-half year jail sentence.

Weeks after his overall parole term expired, Harrington was charged with the current supply offences.
