Fennell Bay: Motorcyclist dead after crash with alleged stolen ute on Main Rd intersection
A motorcyclist has been killed after a crash with a ute in Fennell Bay, with police alleging the ute was stolen before it crashed into the motorcycle followed by the fence of a nearby home.

A motorcyclist has died following a crash with an alleged stolen ute in Fennell Bay.
Main Rd has recently been reopened with police carrying out a critical incident investigation.
Lake Macquarie police were patrolling Main Rd at Toronto about 10pm on Thursday when they saw a ute which had been reported stolen from Wangi that afternoon.
The driver of the ute was directed to stop, however allegedly ignored the police. Officers did not initiate a pursuit, however followed the vehicle to Fennell Bay.
A short time later, police received reports of a crash at the intersection with Main Rd involving the same vehicle which allegedly hit a motorcyclist.
Police allege the ute continued on to the footpath and through the front fence of a home before stopping when it became jammed between the fence and house.
The driver allegedly left the scene after stealing a second vehicle.
Police and emergency services arrived however the male motorcyclist was unable to be revived and died at the scene.
The alleged driver of the ute was arrested a short time later and was taken to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing.
The intersection of Bay Rd and Main Rd was partially closed overnight with a crime scene established and a critical incident team from Hunter Valley Police District investigating.
The investigation will be subject to an independent review.
