Billy Jo James Brown in court over alleged stabbing of Ryan Duck

More details have emerged about the man charged with stabbing champion bodyboarder Ryan Duck several times at a holiday park on the Mid-North Coast.

The man facing charges in relation to the stabbing of champion bodyboarder Ryan Duck at a holiday park near Forster has appeared in court from his hospital bed.

Billy Jo James Brown appeared via audiovisual link from Taree hospital on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old was due to appear before magistrate Hawkins on Tuesday but the matter adjourned until the next day after the court heard he had been admitted to hospital.

In addition to the charge of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, Brown was also facing a charge of dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception.

According to documents tendered to court Brown was living at a Tuncurry address at the time of the alleged incident.

In the very early hours of Monday, November 28, emergency services were called to Tiona Holiday Park on The Lakes Way at Pacific Palms, following reports a man had been stabbed.

Police officers assisted NSW Ambulance paramedics to treat Mr Duck, 35, for multiple stab wounds to his arms and abdomen.

He was flown to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition and according to family members is facing a long road to recovery.

About 6am on Monday police arrested Brown at a war memorial on The Lakes Way, approximately five kilometres from Forster-Tuncurry.

Brown was refused bail and the matter adjourned to December 13.

On Thursday morning, December 1, Brown was still in Taree hospital in a stable condition.
