“(She) intervened and tried to stop (the man). He then pushed (her),” court documents state.

The person playing the video games went outside and contacted the police.

According to documents tendered to court, the assault comes on the back of numerous driving offences for the man, including multiple instances of drink driving, driving with a suspended licence, driving while under the influence of an illicit drug, as well as negligent driving and driving recklessly.

In court Magistrate Leanne Robinson said the man’s behaviour that night was “completely unacceptable”.

“(You are) old enough to know better,” she said. “It seems that alcohol probably had a role to play, I don’t know if illicit drugs did.”

Ms Robinson convicted the man and fined him $600 for the offence.
