Sydney jobseeker can ‘Live the Life’ with $1000 a week for next five years

This Earlwood jobseeker can forget job interviews for sometime, after scoring $1000 a week for five years after scratching the right boxes in his scratchie.

The Earlwood man said the win is a life saver.

An Earlwood man, who had been getting ready to attend a job interview, cannot believe his extraordinary fortune for the next five years.

His win this week from a $$5 Live the Life Instant Scratch-Its ticket means he will collect $1,000 each week for the next five years or $260,000 overall.

The man, who does not want to be identified, could not believe his eyes when he scratched the boxes of his scratchie and found he had cracked the code.

The Live the life scratchie was purchased from a Marrickville newsagency.

After confirming with the Marrickville newsagency where he purchased the ticket, that he had won, he rushed to make the interview on cloud nine.

“The crazy thing is, I scratched the ticket this morning, just as I was just getting ready to go to a job interview,” the Earlwood man said.

“I had already planned that after the interview I’d go check the scratchie and a few other lottery tickets I had to see if I’d won anything on them.

“So I scratched it at home and instantly saw I had all three of the winning symbols and I thought ‘it can’t be’! I really didn’t think it was right!

“There was no way I could go to the interview without making sure I wasn’t seeing things.

“When I got to the newsagency they confirmed my luck.

“I really had to calm down before I went to the interview and thankfully I wasn’t late”

He has not decided how he will spend the unexpected windfall but said it came at a really good time.

“But you’ve got no idea how much this means to me,” the winner said.

“It’s a life saver! It’s seriously unbelievable.”

“When the man came back in to show us he had the winning ticket he really couldn’t contain his excitement. It was a very happy moment for us,” Ms Nguyen said.

“It’s our first big win in a little while so we hope it’s the start of a winning streak.

In 2018, 155 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners collectively took home more than $14.26 million. The same year, nearly 26 million people took home more than $205.8 million across all Instant Scratch-Its prize tiers.
