Spikes stop motorist’s alleged rampage through south west Sydney, damaging police vehicles

A Fairfield man allegedly led police through a pursuit over several suburbs, damaging three police vehicles and another car before he was stopped by road spikes.

Three police vehicles and another car has been damaged after a Fairfield Heights motorist allegedly led police through a pursuit through several suburbs in south west Sydney on Monday afternoon.

The 25-year-old Fairfield Heights man, whose ute allegedly had false number plates, did not stop when asked to by police, leading them through Canterbury Bankstown, Liverpool and Fairfield, police said. No one was hurt in the pursuit.

Around 1.30pm on Monday, a police vehicle were travelling west on Milperra Rd at Milperra when they noticed a white utility with false number plates.

“The utility driver did not stop when directed to do so,” he said.

Police said a low-speed chase then took the man and police through Liverpool, Casula, Moorebank, Wetherill Park and Edensor Park.

“During the pursuit, a police vehicle and the utility collided,” a police spokesman said.

“There were no reports of injury.

“Road spikes were deployed and the utility eventually stopped outside Fairfield Hospital where the man was arrested.”

The sole occupant in the ute, the man was taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today.
