Man allegedly threatens staff before robbing McDonald’s at Padstow

A man, who threatened McDonald’s staff at Padstow saying he had a firearm, is on the run after taking some cash.

Police are appealing for public information in relation to the whereabouts of a man who allegedly held up the McDonald’s restaurant at Padstow, before fleeing with some cash.

Today police released CCTV images of the male.

Police allege the man had threatened McDonald’s staff at the Davies Rd outlet, about 5.55am on Sunday, saying he had a firearm.

However, a Bankstown Police spokeswoman said there was no sign of a weapon.

No one was hurt in the alleged robbery, with a McDonald’s staffer confirming the restaurant is open for business.

“This is the first time this has happened at our restaurant and fortunately no one was hurt,” the spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said detectives of the precinct were investigating several avenues of inquiries.

“About 5.55am yesterday, a man entered a fast food restaurant on Davies Rd, and threatened staff, indicating he had a firearm,” the spokeswoman said.

“He was given an amount of cash before he fled the scene on foot. He was last seen running east on Arab Rd.

“Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene.

“Investigators released images of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.”

The man is described as possibly caucasian appearance, 175cm tall, average build, and a black and white coloured chequered staff is wrapped around his neck.

He was wearing a blue hooded jacket with white stripes along the shoulders, tight dark coloured pants and brown pointy dress shoes.
