The future of Parry Park in Lakemba will be greener, safer and family-friendly based on a newly released draft concept design for the precinct.
Canterbury-Bankstown City Council is inviting residents to provide feedback on draft plans for a play space at the park on Punchbowl Rd.
Designed to cater for all ages, the council is considering sand and water play zones, cycle tracks, shelters and barbecues, seating areas, a play zone with a “landmark play structure”, informal recreational spaces and amenities.
The park represents a major open space precinct in Canterbury-Bankstown and is being improved as part of a 20-year masterplan.
Upgrades have already begun with improvements made to its sports grounds.
The council wants to transform the park into a major recreation destination and sports hub catering for 30,000 community members after a council review identified a gap in open space in the Lakemba area.
The park currently hosts football, futsal and cricket games and is also home to the Australian National Sports Club, which hosts indoor football, badminton, basketball, volleyball and taekwondo.
Residents have until midnight on May 10 to submit feedback on the play space concept design.
Children are also invited to complete a survey sharing their play preferences.
