An alleged postcode gang member charged with murder after a fatal brawl in Sydney’s west is now behind bars on remand over allegations he distributed more than 7kg of cannabis-infused gummy bears.

Ibrahima Diallo, 22, faced Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday to learn whether he would be granted bail on two prohibited drug supply charges, dealing with crime proceeds and participating in a criminal group.

Diallo was also subject to a detention application after he admitted to breaching his bail relating to a murder charge by having an encrypted messaging app on his phone.

Officers attached to Strike Force Delrine arrested Diallo at his Bass Hill home on March 28, after police seized cannabis, cannabis oil, THC-infused products including gummy bears, more than $18,000 cash and electronic devices at a southwest Sydney address.

Police will allege Diallo was involved in supplying almost 7.6kg of THC-infused gummies, constituting the large commercial amount for cannabis.

At court, Magistrate Glenn Walsh said the police case demonstrated a strong link between Diallo and the “crib”, a house where a significant amount of cash and prohibited drugs were found by investigating police.

“It was consistent with intercepted telephone material which referred to the sale and delivery of drugs,” Mr Walsh said.

“ (Diallo) confirmed he was the sole user of the phone subject to the intercepted evidence.”

Mr Walsh therefore refused Diallo’s bail on the drug and crime proceeds charges.

Grave new details about simmering tensions between postcode gangs in Bankstown and Blacktown were unveiled in Mr Walsh’s consideration of whether to revoke Diallo’s bail on the murder charge.

The court had previously heard a 17-year-old boy died in a brawl between rival gang members as part of Sydney’s “postcode wars” at Blacktown on September 1, 2021.

Police charged Diallo with murder on the basis he was part of a “joint criminal enterprise” and that he was present when the fatal blow was issued.

Mr Walsh said police would allege Diallo and four other males in the Bankstown-based “Money Over B*tches” gang armed themselves with knives and travelled to Blacktown specifically to engage in violence with rival Blacktown gangs after a fight had occurred the day before.

The Blacktown gangs allegedly go by Queen Street Block Boys, also known as QSB and MURDA60, and another gang called Ready For Anything.

“There was a tacit agreement to travel from Bankstown to Blacktown with a specific purpose,” Mr Walsh said.

“Money Over B*tches were going to arm themselves, drive themselves to Blacktown, and stab the deceased and other rival gang members in a confrontation.”

Mr Walsh said forensic evidence placed Diallo in the car allegedly used to travel to the fatal brawl, and that his phone was also found inside that vehicle.

“When interviewed he denied being at Blacktown, (then later said) ‘I was there, I was next to, I was not far from where it happened, I didn’t do anything, I was on my way home from work’,” Mr Walsh said.

“That last aspect is simply not true – he had asked to be picked up by the driver from Bass Hill railway station.”

Mr Walsh found Diallo had unequivocally breached his bail on the murder charge by having the native messaging app on his iPhone due to being unaware it was classified as encrypted.

Bail in that matter was therefore revoked.

Diallo’s drug supply matter will return to Burwood Local Court on May 24.
