LAKEMBA-BASED Human Appeal Australia is making a difference to farmers in rural NSW, distributing $90,000 worth of drought relief to them.

Two weeks ago, a team from Human Appeal visited farmers in Cobar and Warren Shire in NSW to hand over the much-needed supplies.

Cobar farmer Rusty Mitchell thanked the donors for standing together with farmers not only financially but also emotionally during the prolonged drought and rural hardship.

The team, including Human Appeal chairman Riyad Qasim and local councillor Bilal El-Hayek, met with representatives of Cobar Council a sister council to the City of Canterbury Bankstown to distribute the aid.

In conjunction with Fletcher International, Human Appeal’s Qurban project partner for the past 27 years, bales of hay were distributed in Warren Shire.

Mr Qasim also handed out hay vouchers to farmers affected the most in Cobar and Warren. The vouchers enabled them to collect their bales of hay instantly.

“Many thanks to our generous community for showing solidarity with our Aussie farmers by supporting the cause and helping many farmers who were at the brink of losing their farms due to the severe drought,” the spokeswoman said.

“We highly appreciate our community’s contribution.

“With their generosity, they are not just helping farmers, in fact, they are helping their own families and the whole Australian community.”
