An action-packed week of travel, theatre and sports is on the cards for local seniors in Canterbury Bankstown.

This Friday, Seniors Week kicks off with a tour of sculptures along the Georges River and this year, locals can be treated to a daytime jaunt down the South Coast.

“Seniors will be able to take a trip down south, to Kiama, where they can take in the breathtaking views of the blowhole and lighthouse,” Canterbury-Bankstown Council administrator Richard Colley said.

Alongside the bus tours is a full program of Chinese opera, salsa, origami, free movies and gardening workshops.

A highlight every year is the seniors’ golf tournament on March 8, which will tee off from Sefton golf course at 8am.

There are also practical courses being run throughout Seniors Week to help locals brush up on computer skills, driving, an employment workshop and a scam awareness class.

“Our seniors continue to contribute to our community, so our annual Seniors Week program is a small way of saying thank you for all they have done,” Mr Colley said.

To see the full program, visit cbcity.nsw.gov.au or call 9707 9000.
