Bankstown: Olyn Anastasia Goenawati charged after allegedly fleecing $300K from elderly woman

A woman allegedly involved in an elaborate scam in which she fleeced a woman of more than $300,000 over two years by using her bank cards has fronted court for the first time.

Olyn Anastasia Goenawati appeared before Bankstown Local Court on Thursday.

Olyn Anastasia Goenawati, 44, appeared before Bankstown Local Court on Thursday for the two charges of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception. No pleas were entered.

The Narwee woman was charged after an investigation began under Strike Force Artal 23 following reports an 81-year-old woman had been defrauded of more than $100,000 in July.

Goenawati, who was known to the 81-year-old woman, was arrested at a Lucas Heights school on October 16.

In documents tendered to court, police allege the 44-year-old used bank cards and accounts belonging to the woman and spent $350,000 between March 2021 to March 2023 in Narwee.

A 48-year-old man was arrested at Narwee in October.

Goenawati also allegedly unlawfully offered the woman’s Mascot home for lease and pocketed $47,629 in rent.

Her lawyer requested for an adjournment for “information to be clarified” in relation to “discrepancies in the fact sheet”.

Olyn Anastasia Goenawati appeared before Bankstown Local Court on Thursday.

The registrar adjourned the matter to Bankstown Local Court on December 21.

Following further inquiries, Robby Yong, 48, was arrested at Narwee on October 24.

He was taken to Campsie police Station, where he was charged with fraudulently rendering false expense account and dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception.

He appeared before Bankstown Local Court on October 24 where he was refused bail and the matter was adjourned to January 10 at Campbelltown Local Court.
