UPROCK Park Jam is here to stay judging by the exciting street dance battles and vibrant DJs who turned the Wiley park Amphitheatre into a cauldron of music, skills and fun on Sunday.
The breakdancers, some of whom came from inter-state, showed off breathtaking skills and vied for stardom with outstanding rappers and live graffiti painting.
One of the organisers ELK said they had a wonderful turnout, with the audience filling the amphitheatre, which was an alcohol and drug free zone.
“We had a very strong level of dancers in the competition,” ELK said.
“There were several top tier dancers who have won international and national titles, and a few who had flown in to represent Queensland, Victoria and South Australia.
“Between the battles, Ozay Moore, an MC from USA, gave a performance, and time was allowed to let the DJs create a fun atmosphere to party dance, and have a good time.
“A graffiti mural was painted live on the day by Mistery and his team of helpers.
“With the interplay of the dance competition, the DJs, the MC performance and the live graffiti painting, attendees enjoyed a community event that was fun, while being drug and alcohol free.”
Crash prizes worth a total of $1200 were presented to winners of different competitions.
Mark ‘Shutdown’ Manahan, one of the Uprock Park Jam all style winners, and leading krumper, praised the organisers for a grand event.
“A big shout to the judges, MCs, DJs and camera people for organising a fun friendly realness environment, loved it and always a pleasure supporting,” Manahan said.
The event attracted several dancers and DJs and was organised by Krosswerdz Community Programs. It was sponsored by Krosswerdz, The Ones., Montana Colors., 94 and Embassy Church.
