When did you move to this suburb and why?
In 2016 we were living in Erskineville with a 2-year-old when suddenly three sides of our townhouse came under construction for multiple apartment complexes. My husband was working in China at the time and reading Tim Winton, and he became transfixed by the stories of growing up near trees, and he proposed moving to the shire. We haven’t looked back!

What do you like most about living there?
Our home is surrounded by trees. I love waking up each day to see the birds in the tree tops at our windows.
What do you enjoy doing on the weekend?
We love going for walks around the George’s River or along the coast line at Bundeena. It’s so refreshing to spend time amongst the trees.
What is your favourite cafe/restaurant/bar and why?
There’s a fantastic woodfire pizza place in Oatley called Postcards from Napoli that imports the tomatoes and mozzarella from Naples and cooks the dough in the traditional way. It’s heaven!
What is your best memory from living in this area?
Years ago, I shot some scenes from Puberty Blues at Darook Park, and now it’s my favourite spot to be on a hot sunset. I love how the bush meets the beach.
Do you have a favourite park or outdoor space and if so why?
We are spoilt for choice and our favourites are Como Pleasure Grounds, the Joseph Banks Native Garden and the Camellia Gardens as well as the chasing waterfalls in the Royal National Park.
What do you wish you could change about your suburb?
We could do with some more great cafes and restaurants, but I am very lucky that my husband is a fantastic cook!
What do you tell other people about your suburb?
That it is remarkably peaceful and that it has great community spirit.
What is the best thing that your suburb offers you?
A home amongst the trees that is only 35 minutes from the centre of the city.
