An alleged drunk driver was caught out by police after he allegedly crashed his car, lost his bumper on the road and ran a red light in Sydney’s south.
Police will allege at 9.10pm on Saturday a 38-year-old Peakhurst man crashed his car into two other vehicles and failed to stop.
The driver’s front bumper fell off his vehicle and the driver left it on the roadway.
A witness who saw the accident followed the driver as they alerted police before officers attached to St George Highway Patrol intercepted the man at Bexley Rd in Bexley as he turned left on a red traffic arrow.
Police observed the man appeared to be significantly affected by alcohol and a breath test returned a positive reading.
A subsequent breath analysis at St George police station allegedly returned a high range reading of 0.171.
The driver’s licence was suspended and he will face Sutherland Local Court on August 6th for high range drink driving, failing to change his address and disobeying a red traffic arrow.
