The glamorous Mercedes Mum has set a date to fight her nine-month prison sentence for leading police on a horrifying 232km/h pursuit on a Sydney highway with a three-year-old girl in the back of her signature luxury vehicle.

Margarita Tomovska, 28, has now been behind bars for five days after a desperate attempt to apply for bail prior to her upcoming appeal against her prison sentence for the reckless police pursuit failed.

The appeal is now set down for mention at Wollongong District Court on November 8.

Tomovska silently disappeared into the cells dressed in impeccable designer clothes after Magistrate Roger Clisdell at Wollongong Local Court said her chances of avoiding prison on appeal were almost non-existent.

“If you don’t go to jail for driving of this nature we may as well remove the requirement for people to serve jail for any offence of this nature,” Mr Clisdell told the court.

“I’m not satisfied the appeal has any reasonable prospect of success.”

Police prosecutor Amelia Wall made a scathing assessment of Tomovska’s brazen lack of remorse after tearing away from Strike Force Raptor officers at sickening speeds near Helensburgh on November 13 last year.

“She has relished the attention, boasting and skylarking on social media, playing the victim with a GoFundMe titled Fight Raptor asking for $100,000 for her legal fees while floating about spending thousands on clothing on her social media – reprehensible, deplorable,” Ms Wall told the court.

“The message is very clear: if you are fleeing police in a dangerous manner … you should expect to go to jail for a significant period.”

Magistrate Susan McGowan sentenced Tomovska to a total of 18 months in prison and a two-year driving disqualification after the Caringbah woman was found guilty of tearing away from police down the Princes Hwy near Helensburgh in her signature dark silver Mercedes AMG with an incorrectly restrained three-year-old girl in the back on November 13 last year.

“Cars are lethal, lethal weapons - you may as well be shooting bullets from a gun because if you hit somebody, it’s going to be fatal,” Ms McGowan said.

“I am of the view that there’s no other sentence that will satisfy the requirements … other than a full time sentence of imprisonment.”

Tomovska’s solicitor said they would double down on earlier claims Tomovska was under duress when she sped away from police.

Not one supporter accompanied Tomovska in court as she sat wordlessly behind her solicitor and later in the dock, hugging her arms, hiding her face and, once, wiping a tear from her face with her manicured nails.

Tomovska’s solicitor Louie Angelovski signalled their intention to double down on her earlier claim her passenger frightened her into speeding away from police.

No charges have been laid against the male passenger in relation to the night in question.
