There is almost nothing more pure than a dog with a job, and some Sydney pups will now do business with their business as a suburban council redeploys dog waste for local landscaping.

Bayside Council is now trialling dog poo recycling bins at off-leash dog parks and reserves throughout St George so owners can responsibly discard their dogs’ business.

Local dogs will be, uh, part of the landscape when their waste is redeployed to improve soil across the Bayside Council region.

The bins will include biodegradable bags and the dog waste will be combined with food waste from council buildings to produce good quality soil, ably assisted by thousands of compost worms.

The first bin has already been installed at Bonar Park in Sans Souci, before others are rolled out at Sheppard St Reserve in Bardwell Valley, Kingsgrove Ave Reserve, and Civic Ave Reserve in Kogarah.
