The building will include three three-bedroom units, 16 two-bedroom units, four one-bedroom units and 39 car spaces over two basement levels.
“With the current demand for housing … and the status of Blakehurst as a blue-ribbon suburb … it is anticipated that the locality will eventually undertake a transformation from its predominantly single storey form toward a larger scale development,” the applicant wrote.
“The existing buildings are in a reasonable condition, but they are significantly under-utilising the site’s full development potential given the zoning permits higher density development.”
The applicant said the apartment building would play an integral role in transforming the street’s character and the scale of future development in Blakehurst.
The building is close to the small retail and commercial centre opposite Todd Park and is within 120m of bus stops with regular services to Miranda, Cronulla, Hurstville and Allawah.
