A former yachthand and Sutherland Shire real estate agent has been acquitted of multiple child sexual abuse charges after a weeks-long jury trial.
The man – who cannot be identified – pleaded not guilty to nine sexual abuse charges and defended the matters at trial at Sydney District Court.
The complainant had alleged the man had sexually abused him when he was 12 and 13, and then had sexual contact with him without his consent when he was 17.
The former yachthand had denied the incidents when the boy was 12 and 13 had ever occurred.
He said the incidents when the boy was 17 had occurred but that they formed part of a consensual sexual encounter.
The 12-person jury unanimously found the former yachthand not guilty of the two offences alleged to have occurred when the boy was 17.
The jury returned a majority verdict of not guilty in the seven offences alleged to have occurred when the complainant was 12 and 13.
The man has now been acquitted of the charges.
