A young Cronulla man admitted he was going to supply party drugs to his friends at a Canberra music festival after police found MDMA in his car, a court has heard.

Shaydn Williams-Bond, 22, pleaded guilty to supplying an indictable quantity of prohibited drugs when he faced Sutherland Local Court on Monday.

Williams-Bond was driving a Toyota Hiace ute south on the Federal Highway near Sutton about 4.20pm on November 24 last year, police state in agreed facts tendered to the court.

Officers activated their vehicle’s lights and Williams-Bond pulled over.

Williams-Bond, who was travelling with a male passenger, told police he was attending a music festival in Canberra and police asked him if he had any drugs in the car.

Shaydn Williams-Bond will be sentenced next month.

Williams-Bond looked nervous when speaking and his eyes were red and glassy, according to police.

He admitted to previously using cocaine and MDMA (ecstasy, or methylenedioxymethamphetamine) at recent events.

Williams-Bond told officers he had “caps” in his car and confirmed they belonged to him.

Police searched the car and Williams-Bond retrieved two clear sealed bags each containing 10 blue tablets, totalling 9.4g of MDMA, from a grey duffel bag.

Williams-Bond told police he had the drugs to supply to his friends.

In court, Williams-Bond’s lawyer said his client made “full and frank admissions to police”, but there was “no excuse” for his actions.
The lawyer said Williams-Bond was “very remorseful” and had anxiety over the court proceedings.

Williams-Bond did not want to put his family or himself through the stress again, the lawyer said.

Magistrate Philip Stewart said the quantity of the drugs was not insignificant and it was a serious offence.

He ordered a sentence assessment report and the case was adjourned to February 19.
