Three men are due to face court after a fire in Sydney’s south led police to uncover an alleged drug supply ring.
About 5:50pm on Monday, emergency services were called to a home at Austral St, Kogarah, following reports of a fire.
At the scene, police found a 51-year-old man outside the home who had suffered burns to his hands, legs and face.
He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition.
After establishing a crime scene and investigating the fire, Raptor Squad detectives executed search warrants in properties across southern Sydney.
Police searched the Kogarah house as well as homes on Canterbury Rd, Campsie, and Garema Cr, Kingsgrove about 4.30pm on Tuesday.
There, police seized several items, including 5.7kg of cocaine, mobile phones, $15,090 in cash, electronic storage devices and drug manufacturing equipment.
The items will undergo forensic examination.
Jason Gerges, 30, and Jason Khoury, 37, appeared in Sutherland Local Court on Wednesday charged with serious drug supply offences.
Gerges and Khoury were charged with two counts of supplying a large commercial quantity of drugs, totaling 6.82kg of cocaine, which was allegedly seized during their arrest on Tuesday morning at Kogarah.
They were both charged with dealing with the proceeds of crime after officers allegedly found, during a search warrant, $15,090 in cash at Gerges’ Campsie home while Khoury allegedly had $2550 at his Hurstville address.
Gerges also faces two charges of supplying prohibited drugs being 6.64g of cocaine and 3.08g of MDMA, which was also allegedly found at his home.
In court, neither man made an application for release and it was formally refused.
On the other side of Sydney, police also arrested a 51-year-old man at the Royal North Shore Hospital.
He was charged with supplying prohibited drugs (large commercial quantity) and refused bail. He is due to appear at Hornsby Local Court via videolink later today.
Investigations under Strike Force Caste, which was established in October by the Raptor Squad, are continuing.
