Menai’s Carli Blaxter convicted after sending girl sex video with ‘slut shaming’ texts
A video was illegally taken of a 17-year-old having consensual sex at a house party before another woman got hold of it and distributed it in a ‘calculated, hurtful, spiteful act’.

A traffic controller slut shamed a young woman when she sent “cruel” text messages and a video of her having sex at a house party, a court has heard.
Carli Marie Blaxter, 22, pleaded guilty to intentionally distributing an intimate image without consent and was sentenced in Sutherland Local Court on Thursday.
Agreed facts tendered to court said the 17-year-old victim attended a house party at Moorebank in February 2020 before she and a young man went into a bedroom and had consensual sex.
Three other men attending the party entered the bedroom and started recording them having sex.
The young man got off the victim, and the woman was lying on her stomach, and her bottom was exposed while the men laughed.
The victim did not give anyone permission to enter the room or film her.
In February this year, Blaxter sent the victim a message calling her a “little pussy”.
“How about I stop running my mouth when you stop opening your legs,” Blaxter told the woman in a text message.
Blaxter continued to send text messages implying the woman was promiscuous before she sent the video of the woman having sex.
The video was accompanied by a text from Blaxter that said, “slut, letting everyone watch you f--- someone”.
The victim felt embarrassed and ashamed and notified the police.
The next day officers went to Blaxter’s Menai home, where she admitted to sending the text messages and video.
The court heard Blaxter was trained as a hairdresser but worked as a traffic controller and had a supportive family.
Defence lawyer Edward Bramble said Blaxter did not film the sex and noted she was the only person to get charged.
He asked Magistrate Jillian Kiely not to record a conviction.
Police prosecutor Sergeant James Glissan said the court must recognise the “horrific conduct” and “harm done to the victim” because the video was already “out there” and could never be deleted.
He said Blaxter “no doubt knew what she was doing” when she sent the victim the video and text messages.
Magistrate Kiely said Blaxter sent the messages to “slut shame” the victim.
“It was an absolute invasion of privacy, and it would be a lot of young women’s worst nightmares to be exposed in that way,” she said.
“Who knows who else disseminated it? Just think about how you would feel if you were engaged in a private consensual act and a video was taken. It is disgraceful.”
Ms Kiely accepted it was “out of character” for Blaxter but noted the work stress she was suffering at the time was no excuse.
“It was not a momentary lapse in judgment. This was a calculated, hurtful, spiteful act,” she said.
“There is no suggestion you took the video or distributed it to anyone else, but there have got to be consequences for your action.
“Who knows that lasting impact on the victim? The video could be anywhere.“
Blaxter was convicted and sentenced to a community corrections order for nine months.
