Hussein Khamiss charged over stabbing at Miranda
A man will remain behind bars on remand after being charged over a stabbing in southern Sydney after initially refusing to front court.

A man accused of stabbing another man known to him at Miranda will remain behind on bars on remand until March.
Hussein Khamiss, 36, did not appear on screen during a brief mention of his matter at Parramatta Local Court on Friday, a day after he refused to attend court after his arrest on Thursday.
On Thursday, his Legal Aid solicitor Rhonda Pietrini told the court a mental health assessment might have to be undertaken.
Mr Khamiss did not apply for bail, and it was formally refused by the court.
Emergency services were called to Kiora Rd following reports of a stabbing about 11.30am on Wednesday.
Sutherland police attended the scene and found a 40-year-old man with serious stab wounds.
NSW ambulance paramedics treated the man before he was taken to St George Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
A short time later, police arrested 36-year-old man Hussein Khamiss nearby before taking him to Sutherland police station.
A crime scene was established and inquiries started into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police allege the men are known to each other.
Mr Khamiss was charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder, and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The matter will return to court on March 2.
