A woman from Sydney’s south who was allegedly involved in a major drug syndicate where police netted an estimated $7m worth of drugs has been refused bail for the second time in two months.

Krystle Piggott, 28, has been charged with two counts of commercial drug supply and eight counts of failing to comply with a digital evidence access order direction and applied for release in Supreme Court on Friday.

The Sylvania woman’s arrest came following the launch of Strike Force Nemarang in September 2022 to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs across Sydney’s metro regions.

Piggott is alleged to have knowingly taken part in the supply of 309g of meth and 478g of MDMA, but her lawyer Robert Daoud said the quantities were in dispute.

Strike force investigators executed search warrants at homes in Parramatta, Fairfield West, and Leppington on June 29.

During the search, investigators found 6.4kg of methamphetamine, 4.1kg of heroin, 1.5kg of cocaine, 866g of MDMA, more than $200,000 in cash, $18,000 in foreign currency, electronic devices, and an emergency siren.

Following the raids police arrested Piggott along with boyfriend Nathan Notaras, a YouTube maths tutor, who was charged with commercial drug supply and recklessly dealing with crime proceeds.

Five other people have been charged in relation to the syndicate, including a 20-year-old and 25-year-old man from Leppington, a 19-year-old man and a 21-year-old man. The matters all remain before the courts.

Piggott – who once had aspirations of opening an escort business – unsuccessfully applied for bail in July in Downing Centre Local Court.

The Supreme Court heard Piggott had a job offer to work at a gelato business in Liverpool but the owner was subject to a firearms prohibition order and had a criminal history.

Mr Daoud told the court Piggott had serious mental health concerns and addiction issues, adding she needed to be bailed to care for her family.

He said his client suffered from PTSD, depression, ADHD and anxiety, and had a dysfunctional upbringing.

He submitted Piggott’s mother and brother suffered from mental health issues and caring for them had fallen on his client.

Mr Daoud said Piggott was in custody for the first time and had no criminal history.

He also submitted she could spend more than 12 months on remand waiting for sentence or trial.

Justice Nicholas Chen said the evidence before the court of Piggott’s mental health conditions, medication and counselling was not comprehensive nor clear.

He also did not accept Piggott was the sole carer for her family given police said Piggott attended her mother’s house “infrequently” and not on a day-to-day basis, adding she had previously been overseas for more than two months indicating her mother and brother could care for themselves.

Justice Chen did not accept there was an issue of delay at the early stage in the case nor that bail conditions mitigated the risks of her reoffending.

Piggott’s case was adjourned to September 12.
