A Sydney mum who allegedly hit her daughter with a car while she was more than three times the blood alcohol limit could face more charges over the incident which made global headlines.
Dale Palmer, 57, faced Sutherland Local Court for the first time charged with aggravated dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and high range drink driving after the May 2 incident.
Police will allege Dale Palmer ran down her 27-year-old daughter Keely Palmer and dragged her for 100m, leaving her pinned beneath the Toyota Starlet for 80 minutes outside their Caringbah South home.
Miss Palmer remains in hospital in a stable condition with significant injuries to her right arm and right leg.
At court police prosecutor Rick Stacey requested a six week adjournment as the investigation continues.
“We’re seeking six weeks for potential further charges to be laid,” Sgt Stacey said.
Magistrate Joy Boulos granted the adjournment and reminded Palmer of her obligations under a provisional apprehended violence order for her daughter’s protection.
Under the provisional order Palmer is forbidden to assault, threaten, stalk, harass or intimidate her daughter or to be around her within 12 hours of consuming alcohol or drugs.
“If you breach these orders you could be charged with a criminal offence,” Ms Boulos warned Palmer.
Palmer’s matter will return to court on June 21.
Palmer clutched her son’s hand and was intermittently tearful as she waited for her court appearance.
She said nothing except to ask media to move aside as she walked to a waiting car
