Dale Palmer: mother charged with running down daughter Keely Palmer in court

A Sydney mother charged after police allege she ran down her own daughter while drunk behind the wheel is facing a further charge as the case edges towards the District Court.

A Sydney mother charged with drunkenly running down her daughter following a party at the family home is headed for the District Court over the serious allegations.

Dale Palmer, 57, was charged in May 2021 after police allege she jumped behind the wheel of a Toyota Starlet when she was more than three times the legal alcohol limit and ran down her daughter Keely on May 2 this year.

Police will allege Miss Palmer, 27, was hit by her mother and dragged down Ash Ave outside the family’s Caringbah home for 80m before the car came to a stop.

Palmer was granted bail by police and first faced court on May 5 charged with aggravated dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and high range drink driving.

Court documents reveal Palmer is now facing a further back-up charge of negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm, as well as an apprehended violence order for her daughter’s protection.

The three criminal charges are now certified and Palmer will next face Downing Centre Local Court for a further committal mention on December 23.

The alleged crash occurred after one of Palmer’s other children celebrated their birthday at the family home.

Miss Palmer was hospitalised for several days after the incident with significant injuries to her right arm and leg.

Under the terms of the provisional apprehended violence order, Palmer is forbidden to assault, threaten, stalk, harass or intimidate her daughter or to be around her within 12 hours of consuming drugs or alcohol.
